In 1957 the Advertising Production Club of New York established a Scholarship Program to support the goals of students pursuing higher education.
Four of the five scholarships are available to students studying graphic arts/communications on a full-time basis exclusively, with various other qualifications. The fifth is open to any full-time student attending a U.S. college and following any undergraduate or graduate degree study program.
Dr. James P. DeLuca
As Professor Emeritus and Former Chairperson, Center for Advertising, Printing and Publishing at New York City Technical College, CUNY, and as president of James P. DeLuca & Associates, “Doc” has championed many causes in higher education and the advertising, printing and publishing industries, yet always found time to lead the cause for quality graphic communications education for the “Inner-City Youth of New York”. His integrity, dedication, and commitment have earned him the respect of his colleagues in Higher Education and the Graphic Communications Industry. The level and wide scope of his pro bono work is evident from the listing of clubs and organizations he has volunteered his services for.
His involvement with the Advertising Production Club these past 40 plus years is apparent by his most recent achievement — the establishment of the APC Scholarship Fund. Dr. DeLuca has a unique and distinguished background as a printer and educator. At the age of 14, he started working in a printing plant serving as apprentice, journeyman and plant manager. Later he entered into a career in higher education which lasted 40 years. Now after 58 years in the industry, he continues as a consultant. He is the recipient of over 30 prestigious awards given by regional and national associations. He is the author of five books and numerous articles appearing in industry and educational journals and is called upon by many groups (Graphic Arts and Higher Education) to be a speaker and/or to conduct workshops and seminars.
